The IAF operates by a straightforward motto: “one accreditation, international recognition.” This principle guides certification bodies like 3core2 Certification, which operate globally. It would be impractical for them to undergo accreditation audits in every country where they operate.
However, all IAF members recognize each other. This includes accreditation bodies like IAS, UKAS, SANAS, and ANAB. Accreditation authorities are required to declare their intention to join the IAF Multilateral Recognition Agreement (MLA), which recognizes the equivalence of each other’s accreditations.
Therefore, if your certification body is accredited by an IAF member, this is the key point to note.
